To speed things up, tell us which device you use, which iOS version it runs and which version of TellerBuddy. You will find the app version at the very bottom of Settings, in the “Version” row.

Frequently asked questions

I don’t need an account, do I?

That’s right. Tap “Continue without an account” on the first screen. The diary, barcode scanner, product search, recipes and Apple Health work without signing in, and your diary, profile and weight stay on your device.

An account is only needed for the features that cannot work without a server: recognising meals in photos, reading nutrition tables from product photos, submitting new products to the shared catalogue, and backing up your diary to our server.

How do I cancel the premium subscription?

Subscriptions run through your Apple Account, so you cancel them with Apple rather than with us: open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, then “Subscriptions”, select TellerBuddy and cancel. This works during the free trial as well. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, otherwise Apple renews automatically.

How do I delete my account?

In the app under Settings, further down, “Delete account”. The entry only appears when you are signed in. That removes your data from our server. If you have a running subscription, cancel it with Apple first: deleting your account does not end a subscription.

How do I get my data as a file?

In the app under Settings, “Privacy and legal”, “Manage consents”, then “Export data” on the “Your data” page. This works with and without an account and gives you your data in a portable format (Article 20 of the GDPR). For full information under Article 15, email privacy@tellerbuddy.com.

A barcode is not recognised

The catalogue holds more than 2.8 million products, but not every label in the world. If the app finds nothing, you can create the product yourself: photograph the nutrition table or type the values in. If you are signed in, you can submit it to the shared catalogue so that others have it too.

My kitchen scale will not connect

Check that Bluetooth is on and that TellerBuddy has Bluetooth permission in the iOS settings. The scale has to be switched on and must not be connected to another device or to the manufacturer’s own app at that moment. If that does not help, switch the scale off and on again.

Supported models are the Arboleaf CK10G and the Acaia Umbra (including Duo), Pearl S, Lunar and Pyxis. The app does not detect other models automatically. Write and tell us which one you use and we will take a look at it.

Apple Health shows nothing

In the Health app, go to “Sharing”, “Apps”, select TellerBuddy and check the permissions. iOS asks for them one at a time, and once something has been declined it will not ask again by itself.

Is TellerBuddy a medical device?

No. TellerBuddy is a food diary and is not intended to diagnose or treat any illness. If you have health concerns, or suspect disordered eating, please talk to a doctor or a qualified therapist.
