Calorie counter apps compared: tracking and advertising per the App Store

This overview sets nine calorie counters for the iPhone side by side, using only a source anyone can check: the privacy details each development team publishes on its own App Store page. No rating, no price comparison, nothing about features.

TellerBuddy is made by BYTEPOTATO UG (haftungsbeschränkt) in Göttingen. We are in the table ourselves, and we state what our own entry does not rule out.

How to read the table

Statements by the providers on streaks

The Lifesum Help Center describes streaks: a streak is the number of days in a row on which food was tracked in the app (source, retrieved on 27 October 2026). Provider: Lifesum.

We say nothing here about the other apps, because we have not read a statement by the provider itself on the retrieval date. That does not mean there is none. TellerBuddy has no streaks, badges or points.

All pages use the same data basis and give their sources with the date they were retrieved.

Frequently asked questions

Which calorie counters state tracking on the App Store?

The table above shows it, per app with source and retrieval date. It changes when the development teams change their details.

Where do the details come from?

From the “App Privacy” section of each app’s Irish App Store page. These are self-reported by the development teams; Apple does not check them.

How up to date is the comparison?

It carries the retrieval date 27 October 2026. We check the details against the App Store with a script before we change the page.

Why are prices and features missing?

Because they change by country and version, and we cannot set them side by side in a verifiable way. The table is limited to what anyone can read for themselves.
